2010-11 Scholastic Divisions

Scholastic teams are teams whose members attend the same school and cheer for a school athletic team or school related events. Routines may not exceed 2:30 minutes. Amount of music is not dictated by Cheer Ltd however, voice is a category to be scored (see Traditional Score Sheet for more information).

All High School routines must follow the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) Spirit Safety Rules.

All Junior High and Middle School teams must follow the NFHS rules with the following RESTRICTIONS as adopted by Cheer Ltd from AACCA. *
NEW! The following restrictions for middle school and junior high teams are in effect for the 2010-11 season.

1. Basket tosses, elevator tosses and similar multi-based tosses are prohibited.
2. The total number of twists in a dismount from stunts cannot be greater than one rotation. Exception to this rule:
   1. Side facing stunts (i.e. Arabesque, Scorpion, etc.) may add a one-quarter twist in order to cradle to the front.

Junior High/Middle School and Junior Varsity divisions will be split into Small JV (5-15 members) and Large JV (16-36) if there are at least 2 teams in each division.

Varsity divisions will be split into Small Varsity (5-12 members), Medium Varsity (13-16), Large Varsity(17-20), and Super Large Varsity (21-36) if there are at least 2 teams in each division. If there are not two in all divisions, Varsity may be split into Small Varsity ((5-15) and Large Varsity (16-36) if applicable.

2010-11 Recreation Divisions

Recreation terms are non-school affiliated teams that cheer for an organized sport or are affiliated with a recreational facility and participate in/cheer for community event(s). Age requirements are for the purpose of fair competition; all team members must fit into the age range. Age is determined as of August 31, 2010 for the upcoming competition season.

Routines may not exceed 2:30 minutes. Amount of music is not dictated by Cheer Ltd however, voice is a category to be scored (see Traditional Score Sheet for more information).

Teams entering the "Advanced" Recreation divisions must follow the NFHS Rules. *Teams entering the "Intermediate" Recreation divisions will be limited in what skill maximums can be performed. 2010-11 All Star Divisions

All Star Teams are teams formed for competition purposes and do not cheer for any other organized sport. All routines must follow USASF Rules and Level Guidelines and team members must all comply with USASF Guidelines set forth for divisions and age. The age of the competitors as of August 31, 2010 will be the age used for competition purposes throughout the 2010-11 season.

2010-11 Individual Cheerleader Divisions

Individual divisions are separated for scholastic/recreation cheerleaders and all star cheerleaders. (Please refer the team divisions for more specific information defining scholastic, recreation and all stars.) All individual cheerleader routines may not exceed 1:30 minutes. Amount of music is not dictated by Cheer Ltd however, voice will most likely be an area considered when scoring the "Crowdleading" category for individuals (see International Cheerleader Score Sheet for more information).

2010-11 Stunt Group Divisions

Stunt group divisions are separated for scholastic/recreation and all stars. (Please refer the team divisions for more specific information defining scholastic, recreation and all stars.) Stunt group routines must not exceed 1:30 and use all-music. All star routines must follow USASF rules (see specific level guidelines below) and scholastic/recreation must follow NFHS safety rules. Stunt routines may not incorporate choreographed motions (other than the flyer during a stunt), tumbling (unless part of the stunt/transition), dance or jumps.

2010-11 Dance Divisions

Teams perform routines in specialized dance areas. Cheer Ltd follows the USASF Dance Rules. The age of the competitors as of August 31, 2010 will be the age used for competition purposes throughout the 2010-11 season. Routines must be all-music and may not exceed 2:30 minutes. All dance divisions combine scholastic, recreation, all star and studio "teams".

2010-11 Dance Solo Divisions

Dancers can perform individual and small group routines in any style. Cheer Ltd. follows the USASF Dance Rules.  Individual and small group routines must be all-music and may not exceed 1:30 minutes. The age of the competitors as of August 31, 2010 will be the age used for competition purposes throughout the 2010-11 season. All dance divisions combine scholastic, recreation, all star and studio dancers. Individual dancer divisions are not offered at Cheer Ltd Nationals at CANAM; only at Soffe Open and Regional Championships.

2010-11 Collegiate Team Divisions

All collegiate teams will perform on a standard cheer mat. All routines must follow the AACCA College Cheerleading Safety Rules and may not exceed 2:30 minutes. Amount of music is not dictated by Cheer Ltd however, voice is a category that is scored. (See scoresheets for more information.) Eligibility covers current members and accepted 2010-11 recruits.

2010-11 Collegiate Individual and Stunt Group Divisions

Collegiate Individuals and Stunt Groups will perform on a 54' x 42' standard cheer mat. All teams and individuals will follow the AACCA cheerleading guidelines. Individual cheerleader routines may not exceed 1:30 minutes. Amount of music is not dictated by Cheer Ltd however, voice will most likely be an area considered when scoring the "Crowdleading" category for individuals (see International Cheerleader Score Sheet for more information). Stunt group routines must not exceed 1:30 and use all-music.
